For my bags I use sustainable materials which are friendly to the environment and all living creatures. They're a great choise for a more sustainable life. At the moment I use four different materials and I'm always looking for new eco-friendly alternatives. 

What is Uppeal™?

At Fi by Gaja, sustainability is at the core of everything I create. That's why I use Uppeal™, a unique bio-based leather alternative made from apple peels. This cutting-edge material is produced in Florence and offers all the durability and versatility of traditional leather while being completely animal-free and eco-friendly.

Uppeal™ is created by recovering waste from the food and agricultural industry, minimizing the use of new resources. By using organic waste, like apple peels, and GRS-certified textiles, they help reduce water and energy consumption. Their materials are sourced from Italy, where more than 30,000 tons of apple waste are produced each year, particularly in the South Tyrol region, known for its abundant apple production.

Additionally, Uppeal™ carries several important certifications, including:

• REACH compliant
• USDA Certified Biobased Product
